Gear Review – Sea to Summit Delta Plates

Gear Review – Sea to Summit Delta Plates

Sea to Summit Delta plates are a budget plastic plate for outdoor use that hold up well for camping, hiking, overlanding and more.

Sea to Summit Delta Plates. Sounds like a set for a Navy seal team, joking aside though these delta plates are good, they get good reviews, they’re just the right size and they’re lightweight.

Back in the good old days of the 80’s I remember caravanning as a kid and using scratched up old plastic plates, they did the job but compared to what is available these days times have certainly moved on. So how much can you say about a plate? Apparently quite a lot…

According to Sea to Summit this is a plate with guard rails, it has a protex hex pattern base for heat dispersion and weight reduction, it is BPA free food-grade glass reinforced polypropylene and boasts measurement increments on the inside.

Real world use:

We’ve had these out on various trips and they are holding up well, the design is quite clever as that hexagon pattern on the base [same the Sea to Summit Delta insu mugs] does disperse the heat, it also helps with grip, as every overlander who has a built in kitchen/table in the back of their truck will know, sometimes you just can’t get level for a quick lunch stop so anything that stops that plate from sliding off into oblivion taking your lunch with it is a good thing.

  • Depth 4cm / 1.5 inches
  • Weight 130g
  • Volume 1000ml
  • Dishwasher safe

Why we like them:

With Sea to Summit Delta plates you get a good brand name product for a good price, shop around and you can pick these plates up for around €7.95 which, for what they are is very reasonable. We also like the way they stack although not flush together they suit our overland kitchen setup well, the depth is also an advantage as these plates can be used to serve everything from a bacon sarnie to a stew or casserole making them highly functional.

2 years on: These plates are used heavily and are suffering scratches to the surface, they are however holding up well and we have no plans to replace them anytime soon.
